Dave Schuler is continuing his excellent series on the current issues facing our country with his take on Economic Policy. One thing that he mentions is the fact that manufacturing is leaving the country, something I’ve started to be a bit concerned about, too.
I’m old-fashioned enough to be concerned about so much manufacturing leaving our shores for cheaper labor. I think that engineering will inevitably follow manufacturing whle management and ownership follow engineering. I don’t know what can be done about it but I’m concerned about it.
I think that the solution here is to focus on manufacturing where we can build a significant competitive advantage. Namely, green technology.
Our take on economic policy comes from Tom Traina, who’s written an excellent article on why McCain and Obama’s economic policies are mostly crap.
